When everyone starting switching to the table I was like nope, never gonna happen. I loved my beanbag, despite having to top it up with those silly little foam balls every couple of months because it would get flat. I was adamant that I would never switch.

Then one day I flew out to do a workshop and I was forced to use a table as the host had got rid of her beanbag a few months prior (to my shock horror lol). I admit I panicked for a few minutes thinking how will I make this work teaching my ‘beanbag’ flow. Anyway, as I was working away posing this sweet baby, I was surprised at how easy the table was to use. I was also surprised at how I didn’t have to use as many posing aids under the baby for each pose, how I COULD SIT DOWN to pose with my legs under the table as apposed to straddling the darn beanbag. I didn’t even have to push down on the table to mould the baby into place.

COULD THIS BE A GAME CHANGER? Could the table actually be BETTER than the beanbag? So I went ahead and ordered the Paloma Newborn Station Table (that sadly is no longer in business), even though it was $800, I was like go big or go home right?

And you know who thanks me the most for this switch? MY BACK!

I now use the amazing Newborn Studio Props posing table (that I am setting up here) and I LOVE IT!"

"So I finally made the switch from the posing bean, to the posing table. Here is why!

My knees! They’re awful; and If you’re a long time client you’ll know that I have very bad knees, and last year suffered from a septic knee which terrified me to say the least. My knee dr said I need to stay off of them as MUCH as possible, and working with kids, that’s a very hard thing to do. So I purchased a rolling chair, but I still found myself dropping to my knees to pose comfortably.

My back! Once I switched to the rolling chair I found myself hunching a lot because now I was higher than the bean, higher than my newborns, my lower back started to significantly hurt. This table is now at my level and I don’t have to strain anything.

Space saver, it’s less bulky and a little more slender.

Moveable! It comes with locking wheels (which I did not put on because I won’t be moving it) but I can move it easily if I want to!

The top mat can easily come off so I can move it to the floor if I need to do a top down / aerial portrait.

I snagged it after seeing another photographer talk about her making the switch.

I’m so happy and wish I did this sooner!

"I used to be in so much pain during my newborn sessions. My back would be on fire, my shoulders would hurt, my knees aching…but once I switched from a beanbag to a posing table everything changed.

Once I moved my posing to a table, I could easily sit on a stool with my legs underneath which would save my back. The table was at the perfect height that I no longer had to crouch down which saved my knees and I also found that my babies would be easier to pose as I wasn’t battling with a sinking beanbag that required me to re-stuff it every other session. My posing aids would also stay in place and not wiggle around on me. In general my body just felt better afterwards and I no longer needed to reach for the Advil."
